Well this past weekend I have tried to sort the garden out, the weather was lovely so thought it was best to take advantage. Would love to get a dog but the garden is a big problem, just haven’t felt the motivation to sort it out since the last big storm we had and our fence was totally blown to pieces. Anyway I have cut half the grass (it’s a kinda big garden), pulled out weeds and put all the wood into one pile so it is looking better already, still a long way to go.
I’m a girl and I do have girlish tendancies, seeing me in my rags with a rake was quite something. It was hard work, really hard work! I get exhausted so easily nowadays. If the nieghbours didn’t think I was totally mad before they do now as I was talking to myself, more so to the plants, especially sayings like, “get out, you bastard” when trying to untangle the rosebushes from the weeds, or when the stingies got caught in my gardening gloves. Speaking of which – I have holes all over my hands, them gloves were good for protection against dirt but not for thorns!
I had to stop when I saw a spider on our compost bin, there was absolutely no way I was going near that bin when there was a spider hanging off it, so I had to call in my dad to help get rid of it.
Eww this, eww that, using a grabber to pick up the dirty plastic bags and rotten pieces of wood, to find a load of woodlous and worms underneath it. Ewwww.
When I was mowing the grass I didn’t mind slicing the insects to pieces but when I saw a little ladybird on part of the grass I was about to mow, I had to stop and pick it up and put it somewhere safe, cute little things.
I went to B&Q yesterday to get some gravel and OH MY!! I didn’t know it was so heavy… typical there was no one around and anyway, I was too shy to ask for help so I lifted it into the trolley and was even more difficult to get out of the trolley when I got to my car. Lifting it and throwing onto the car seat I went flying with it, my arms were all mucky from carrying it, good thing for carrying cleansing gel in my car!! I think I used half the bottle.
Anyway the garden is far from finished but I am pleased with my process. I will hopefully work on it a bit more towards the weekend.
